Crock Pot Advice And Fun For You

The beauty of a crock pot is that it's a plug and cook feature. You just toss everything in the crock pot and forget it. With all most all dishes stirring is not necessary but I know we all like to check out what's cooking and see how its doing. So if you must feel free to stir most crock pot recipes unless the recipe tells you not to.

All Crock Pots Are Not Equal

When it comes to cooking times know that all crock pots are not equal when it comes to cooking times. Some crock pots heat up and cook faster than other crock pots. Others can seem slow. You will need to cook a few meals in your new crock pot before you learn exactly how your crock pot is going to perform for you.

Dry Bean Information For The Crock Pot

I love to cook dried beans in the crock pot but there are some cautions you need to know about cooking dry beans. Remember that the amount of dry beans you put into a crock pot is going to double in volume. And different types of beans will require different cooking times and it will also depend on the ingredients cooked with the beans.

A Bit Of Crock Pot Wisdom For You

1. Avoid really sudden temperature changes in your crock pot. Do not add really cold items or cold water to a hot crock pot. It could crack and ruin your crock pot.

2. Always use your crock pot with its lid on. Its the only way a slow cooker is going to work so remember keep the lid on.

3. Don't immerse the cooking elements in water.

4. Let your crock pot cool before you clean it and wash it.

Homestyle Chicken Stew With Mushrooms And Peppers

Here's a very easy stew with lots of homemade flavors that you and your family are sure to enjoy. This crock pot recipe for the Chicken Stew with Mushrooms and Peppers is really enjoyed by a lot of people including me and my family. Its easy to prepare and you can serve it with a crusty loaf of french bread and a garden salad for a complete meal.

For Your Recipe You Will Need.

2 Pounds of Skinless Boneless Chicken Cut In Small Cubes

1 Can Of Cream Of Chicken Soup And 1 Can Of Water

1 Can of Chicken Broth And 1 Can Of Water

1 Cup Of Baby Carrots Sliced Into Slices

1 Tablespoon Fine Chopped Celery

1 Cup Of White Button Mushrooms Diced Up Fine

1 Cup Of Green And Red Bell Peppers Diced

1 Tablespoon Fresh Garlic

1 Teaspoon Salt

1 Level Teaspoon Fine Ground Cayenne Pepper

Place all your ingredients into the crock pot and if possible turn on high for 4 hours and then reduce to medium heat for four more hours. You may wish to stir occasinaly but its really not necessary. Just stir it up well before serving. To me the cayenne pepper really kicks this chicken stew up a notch and gives it a boost of flavor but you can adjust the amount or leave it out if you wish. The small amount does not really add that much fire to the dish. Just flavor.
