This Week, for me, although enlightening, has been a rollercoaster. We all have days or weeks that feel like life has put us through the blender emotionally and mentally. Decisions must be made, and continuing the perspective we work to keep open and uplifting as much as possible can sometimes feel burdensome.

As we become more conscious of the positive, we can also become more conscious of the negative. The line between the two, in my experience, sometimes blurs, and my frustration can boil over.

When these moments happen, I have realized there are times my emotions will spill over and project onto myself. I end up questioning my character, perspective, thoughts, and decisions. “What Do You Love About Yourself?” becomes a question that remains unanswered.

Although as crazy as it sounds, it’s a part of the Journey as these lows are necessary to see and to get to the highs. Yeah, I know, LOL. I was looking at my therapist the same way as I was bawling my eyes out and snot-clogging my nose, then had the nerve to tell me I was having a breakthrough!

“Girl! I thought we had to switch chairs!”

So, Of course, it sucks sometimes, and we are allowed to feel that way. However, we must also ensure we love ourselves through these challenging times.

That said, we have had our moment; we have felt our feelings, and now it is time for some Self-Love Healing! We will focus on promoting self-love and having a better understanding of Self-Love, as it is your best defense when the world is on offense!

What is Self-Love?

According to the Dictionary, Self-love is defined as “love of self” or “regard for one’s happiness or advantage.”

Self-love is a concept that I define as CHOOSING YOU. It can look like saying no to a favor when you know you are busy with your own life, allowing space for people to express themselves while defining your boundaries.

It can also look as giving into your sweet tooth after a stressful day and curbing your cravings because you are dedicated to your body’s goals for the year.

It is essential to put self-love first. If not, we miss the opportunity to show up for ourselves and shine as we were designed to do. As I remind myself:

“People will not stop you from coming to their aid. People won’t always be happy when aiding yourself means you can’t go to them. “

This is a moment to acknowledge that choosing to put yourself first will only sometimes feel like an easy thing to do, incredibly when we have been nurturing our habits of caring for others before ourselves.

I have battled with saying “No” many times, and it continues to be something I work on. Putting yourself first is a battle worth fighting for because it can save you from stress and a lot of tears by you put your well-being first.

How to Identify What You Love About Yourself?

I have seen too many women become susceptible to ailments, suffer from depression and anxiety, and lose their joy in life. We must be honest with ourselves and accept that we can’t do well if we don’t feel well.

It is time to turn the tables in our favor and ensure our mind, spirit, and body get the nourishment it needs.

I don’t know about anyone else, but there are days when “What do you love about yourself?” It is the most challenging question to answer of the day.

When I feel stuck; I focus in on doing activities and things that solely make myself happy and feel good. It may not always solve the problem at hand however, it is a starting point for positive inner dialogue.

Journaling Into “What You Love About Yourself !”

Another way to learn What you love about yourself is through Journaling. It may sound cliche, but Journaling is a great way to go. It creates a space for your truth to thrive, no matter how ugly or pretty.

Getting Journals with prompts is a great way to ensure the conversation with self remains positive and objective. This is important because if we are not mindful, we can become overtly self-critical with ourselves and lose sight of our real goal of exercising self-love

Knowing where we are is a starting point for understanding what we need. Understanding what we need can motivate us to learn how to fulfill those needs. Then, the opportunity to be actionable and use our will to love ourselves enough to make it happen.
